Join our outstanding Fine Arts Program
Drama is an outstanding opportunity for students to learn presentation skills as well as creative expression. Below is a list of skills students have explored the first semester:
- Grandparent’s Day Skit
- Rehearsing for “The Velveteen Rabbit” which is January 12 and 13th at 6:00 pm. $3.00 per individual or $10.00 for family
- Short drama reading entitled “The Call of Christmas Anthem” for the Christmas Concert
- Relaxation and Concentration-warming up the whole body and voice
- Unit on Acting, Actions, and Pantomime-defining acting, worked on simple actions, learned how to pantomime doing work actions, chores and pantomime finding a lost object
- Create a character and define that character by drawing three random objects from a bag and trying to connect the objects
- Creating and writing about a character based on a photograph only
- Five Senses-pantomime units that focus on the five senses
- Believability, Imagination and Intentions-focusing on strengthening the imagination and emotional recall, presenting familiar sayings with different intentions, demonstrating a designated emotion or feeling and working on strengthening concentration, listening skills and visualization
- Unit of Improvisations: focus on combining a sequence of related physical activities that make up simple physical actions/tasks, how to think logically and create moment-to-moment reality and deal with elements of conflict
- Unit on theater games: working with others in a group in spontaneous moment-to-moment reality, to interact while working as an ensemble, monologues, and impromptu storytelling
- Each student creates a warm-up to lead and direct the class
- Move your mouth activities (tongue twisters, vocal warm-ups, experimenting with vocal shapes and sounds).
